Chandelier Packed and Moved
May 11th, 2019 by KyleAbout 2-3 months ago we were requested to move a very fragile chandelier from a local store to a mansion in downtown Grand Rapids. We worked alongside a couple electricians to remove it and set it up at the mansion.
We built a wood U shaped carrying system with a U bolt in the middle and then moved it into a crate on wheels that we rolled into our trailer to transport it. We had lots of packaging around it so that it didn’t move while we traveled. We then used our carrying system to bring it into the mansion and hold it in place while the electricians did their work. It took all 4 of us to get it done as it weighed about 100-150 lbs and they ran into a few complications getting it electrically hooked up so we had to suspend this thing in the air for like 30 min as they figured out those issues. Our carrying system proved effective to accomplish this challenge.
It was a wonderful experience and now that mansion with this beautiful chandelier will be on the Heritage Hill tour coming up on May 18 & 19.
